Studio Dress Code
The appropriate uniform is required to participate in Jersey City Ballet classes.

Creative Ballet, Primary Ballet, & Pre-Ballet
Attire:
GIRLS -
Plain pink leotard - any style
Pink or flesh tone footed tights
Pink or flesh tone ballet shoes (without drawstrings is preferred)
BOYS -
Plain, fitted white t-shirt
Black dance shorts, leggings, or tights.
White Socks
Black ballet shoes (without drawstrings is preferred)
Hair:
ALL - Long hair must be pinned back in a neat ponytail or bun. Bangs, braids, extensions, and any other protective hairstyles must be pulled back or secured. Short hair should be neatly secured away from the face.
Ballet Basics, Beginner Ballet, Ballet A, B, C, and Pointe
Attire:
Please note that tights and shoes should match in color.
GIRLS -
Plain black* leotard - any style
Pink or same as skin tone footed tights
Pink or same as skin tone ballet shoes
Plain warm-up shorts and sweaters with no logos or patterns in pink or black are acceptable.
Pink ballet shoes are required for performance.
BOYS -
Plain, fitted white t-shirt
Black dance shorts, leggings, or tights.
White Socks
Black ballet shoes (without drawstrings is preferred)
*Teens may wear any solid color leotard and skirts for centre work.

Youth Modern/Contemporary
Attire:
GIRLS -
Plain black leotard - any style
Black convertible tights
BOYS -
Plain, fitted white or black t-shirt
Black dance shorts, leggings, or tights.
Hair:

BOYS - Long hair must be pulled back away from the face. Bangs, braids, extensions, and any other protective hairstyles must be pulled back or secured in a bun. Short hair should be neatly secured away from the face.
Adult Classes
Attire:
Ballet Shoes are REQUIRED. Street shoes damage the studio flooring and may not worn in class.
Adult dancers may wear whatever clothing they feel most comfortable in, though proper ballet attire is recommended (i.e. leotard, tights, skirt and/or dance shorts)
Hair:
Adult dancers may wear their hair however they feel comfortable, though pulling hair neatly back and away from the face is recommended.
